Awards - Excellence in Teaching
Purpose To recognize and encourage superior professional effort to improve instruction.  To cultivate the continuance of educational excellence in the East Grand Rapids Public Schools.
Awards Each award is a monetary gift of $1,000.  Brass plates will be inscribed for the permanent awards plaque displayed in each of the five buildings.
Recipients Separate awards will be presented annually  to a recipient from the Elementary level (Kindergarten through fifth grade) and to a recipient from the Secondary level (grades six through twelve).  A Recipient may be an individual or a teaching team.
Eligibility The awards will be given to educators who have been in the employment of the East Grand Rapids Public Schools for a minimum of three years, and who have not previously received the award in the last 10 years, in recognition of outstanding contributions  which have directly benefited students.
Nominations

Nominations for the awards may be received from students, parents, community members and employees of the East Grand Rapids Public Schools. Educators who are nominated will be notified of the nomination. Nominations are due May 1st.

Selection 

A selection committee composed of a representative from each of the five schools and six voting members from the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation shall meet and make the selections.       

Presentation Presentation to the award winners shall take place at the district's annual opening staff meeting in August
Administration The East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation shall fund and
administer these awards.
