The Vi Chem Chair for Science, Mathematics and Technology is an award to recognize an outstanding teacher of science, mathematics and technology in the East Grand Rapids Public Schools.  The award is a $1,000 grant to be used by the recipient to further enhance his/her teaching of science, mathematics and Technology.

Nominations may be submitted by parents, students, community members and the staff of the East Grand Rapids Public Schools.

Criteria to be considered include:

• is effective and innovative
• motivates his/her students to excel in science, math and technology
• creates a positive, supportive classroom climate
